Give me some clay, place me in Haiti with wonderful souls and I will be happy for the rest of my days.
I'm Christine; college student majoring in Art and Design with a minor in Marketing. Proudly from MA, living in Western NY currently.
I want to one day start a non-profit in Haiti. This blog is everything that makes me tick! Enjoy!

You might say, “What a dreadful day,” without realizing that the cold, the wind, and the rain or whatever condition you react to are not dreadful. They are as they are. What is dreadful is your reaction, your inner resistance to it, and the emotion that is created by that resistance.

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.”

Kay has been roaming the nations wild spaces over the past week or so on a solo road trip west. We met up in southern Utah at Arches National Park over the weekend and had a surreal time. We woke to sunrises behind steaming coffee mugs, climbed to the top of towers of sandstone, hiked under expansive arches, looking up at drawings in the sky. We suffered the wrath of the sun and heat, and camped and lounged in the shade of resilient trees.
I couldn’t have asked for a better time, It was more than I ever expected to experience, and doing it all in the company of such an extraordinary person was a true blessing. I pray that weekends like these, so full of life and friendship, become a common part of my future.
Tim is so incredibly talented, and has the soul of a saint. — I had no idea he had composed this. He caught me by complete surprise. I am speechless, and humbled. His thoughts and words here are a true reflection of my own, only expressed far more beautifully. We each are very, very blessed.

Costco CEO Craig Jelinek supports raising the minimum wage.
Costco announced record profits today, averaging $10,000 in profit per employee compared to $7,400 at Walmart.
The secret to Costco’s success is paying employees well, providing benefits, and giving them an opportunity to unionize. So large corporations’ excuses that treating & paying workers well would damage profits are all a crock of shit.
This is why I have a Costco membership and not a Sam’s Club membership.

Kutani pottery
Tokuda Yasokichi III (b. 1933)
The second plate is from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, accession Number:
2006.126.1. The other plates: shingori.com HEREBio via: kanazawa.jp
“Born in Komatsu, Ishikawa, Japan in 1933. Died in Komatsu in 2009.
Grandson of the first TOKUDA Yasokichi and son of the second, a ceramic artist, amid interactions and collaborations with artists across a broad range of genres Yasokichi III pushed the boundaries of contemporary ‘iro-e’ (overglaze enamel) Kutani ware. Using scientific methods based on traditional ‘Ko-Kutani’ (Old Kutani) techniques to conduct exhaustive research, in accordance with his unconventional belief that ‘changes in illustrative style are what Kutani tradition is all about,’ Tokuda moved away from the previous Kutani predilection for nature scenes and traditional patterns, identifying a contemporary quality in the development of glazes purely as lustrous materials radiating vibrant colors, and in 1983 establishing an original style dubbed ‘yosai’, literally ‘gleaming colors’. In 1988 he took on the title Tokuda Yasokichi III, and in 1997 was designated a protector of Important Intangible Cultural Property (color-glazed porcelain).” via: kanazawa.jp
